This was refreshing, Thanks. I am a working mom of a 2yr old, and 6month old. My husband is a pastor and I run a battered women's shelter. I very rarely have "everything" together and have heard several comments through out the years about Proverbs 31 and my lifestyle (obviously incongruent). My answer is always, I would love to stay at home, but until people stop beating their wives and kids, I have to work. I certainly God predestined my life to do this job as mom and manager but the tremendous guilt doesn't help... thanks Satan! I hope to fight back at him using this blog as a rest for my soul, thanks for your words!

Really good posting, Kelly. When you said, "What if Noah would have done this and built a small model of an ark, thinking God was being symbolic?

What if Moses only wrote a letter to the Pharoah in an attempt to be more realistic and diplomatic?"...............

I love it! It makes you think beyond what has become 'just a story learned in Sunday School'. To consider Noah and Moses thinking some of the thoughts we have 'brings it home'.

ALWAYS enjoy your posts. You provide so much inspiration & encouragement to so many of us. Listen, I wanted to share with you a new application that was shared with our family over the holidays. Thought you may want to check it out & share with your readers, as we have found Children's Bible to be an awesome addition to our family. Children's Bible is an app designed for children 3-13 & shares Bible stories through comics. It is available for most smart phones & computers. We have found this is a great way to get our children in the habit of reading the Bible, & it's on their level. Since as parents we are striving to maintain our daily Bible time in the New Year, we found this is a good way for the kids to start doing the same. Just something we have found that works & wanted to pass along. Check out childrenbible.org & I think you will find it's worth the time & the kids love it!

Oh, Angela. I've just been through something similar. We had to be willing to let go of our house that the family built together and we love for my husband to take a new job. Once he accepted, situations changed & we got to stay. Sometimes God just wants our willingness, and sometimes he wants to take further. It sounds like you are willing to admit what you are clinging to and offer it to God before he even asks, and that is a great place to be in your relationship to Him.

My husband I moved seven times the first nine years we were married. God has let us stay in the same place for the last 5-1/2 years, and I'm finding that I'm starting to guard that in my heart. I don't know that God has any intentions of moving us ever, but I find myself continually admitting to God that I don't feel so willing to let go in that area.

Wow. Great post. Makes you think... We do try to fit God in a box so many times. To make His word fit how we think and feel. And we tend to take cultural norms and traditions at face value without really evaluating it against scripture. This is great stuff. I will have to ponder this more.
