Credibility - Do we do this with God?
>> Friday, January 8, 2010
Earlier this week I was having a blog-comment conversation about raising teenagers. I shared a statement that I often give to my friends who aren't quite to that stage yet:
"It's like one day I suddenly lost all of my credibility and now I have to back up every statement that I make."
For example, this week my children were working on thank-you notes. My son asked me how my sister spells her first name.
I gave him the answer.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"How do you know that?"
"Shes my sister."
"Well, have you seen her spell it a bunch of times?"
Aghh! Are you kidding me? She's my sister!
This type of conversation goes on daily at my house.
As I reflected on this conversation later, I started wondering if I ever sound like this to God.
How often do I question him when he gives me direction?
Do I ever sound stubborn and ridiculous to him?
I don't think I want to answer that - how about you?
